Vilwood started in a small workshop with a CNC router and a stack of birch plywood. We make furniture to order rather than pulling it from a warehouse: every panel is cut with millimetre accuracy, checked by hand and packed flat for the journey to your home.
CNC precision
Each joint is milled to a fine tolerance so panels slide together with a satisfying friction fit – no wobble.
Finished by hand
Solid beech pieces are hand-finished with natural oil and plywood edges are left exposed to celebrate the layered grain – every piece is inspected before it leaves the workshop.

Where do you ship and how long does delivery take?
We ship worldwide from our workshop, with the USA, UK and Europe as our main destinations. Because pieces like the rocking chair are made to order, production time is added before dispatch. Current processing and delivery estimates for your country are shown on each Etsy listing at checkout, and you receive tracking as soon as your parcel leaves the workshop.
Do I need tools to assemble Vilwood furniture?
It depends on the piece. The Plywood Rocking Chair uses a tool-free interlocking system – panels slot together without screws or hardware. The dog houses and the canvas stand ship flat with the required hardware and an illustrated guide for quick assembly, and the canvas stand adjusts with hand-tightened knobs. The Kentucky Stick Chair arrives fully assembled and simply unfolds.
What materials do you use?
Each product uses the material best suited to its job. The rocking chair is cut from 18 mm first-class birch plywood – never particle board or MDF. The canvas stand and Kentucky Stick Chair are handcrafted from first-class kiln-dried solid beech with a natural oil finish. The dog houses use 8 mm melamine-faced laminated MDF, chosen for its scratch-resistant, wipe-clean surface and lightweight strength. Every panel is CNC-cut in our workshop.
How do I clean and care for the products?
Laminated dog houses wipe clean with a soft, damp cloth. Solid beech pieces can be wiped with a dry or slightly damp cloth; apply a light coat of natural wood oil every few years to keep the grain vibrant. Keep plywood and beech furniture away from prolonged direct sunlight and standing water. Only the Kentucky Stick Chair is designed for outdoor use – all other pieces are indoor only.
Which dog house size fits my dog?
The Geometric Dog House is a 60 × 60 × 60 cm cube suited to small-to-medium breeds such as Jack Russells, French Bulldogs, Pugs, Shih Tzus and Boston Terriers, and to cats. The A-Frame “Bungalow” is larger (87 × 77 × 62 cm exterior, 70.6 cm interior width) and suits French Bulldogs, Beagles, Corgis, Pugs and Schnauzers. Compare your dog's favourite bed or cushion with the interior dimensions before ordering. Cushions shown in photos are not included.
Are the wood grain and colour identical to the photos?
Birch plywood and solid beech are natural materials, so grain patterns and colour tones vary slightly from piece to piece – every chair and stand is genuinely one of a kind. Laminated dog houses have a consistent black, cream or brown finish.
What is your return policy, and what if something arrives damaged?
Returns and exchanges are handled through Etsy under the policy shown on each listing. If anything arrives damaged, message us through Etsy with photos as soon as possible and we will sort out a replacement panel or unit.
Can I order a custom size, colour or finish?
